aircraft at Cairo International Airport from Airbus factory in Toulouse,
France ...
in cooperation with Aercap. With this delivery, EGYPTAIR has become the
first airline in Africa and Middle East to operate both the A320neo and
A220, the most modern and fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft types.
“Receiving the new
aircraft is one of the links in the chain of developing the civil aviation
sector, which considered from the ministry's strategy to develop the national
carrier fleet, especially in light of the interest of the political leadership
and the government to intensify efforts to advance the civil aviation sector
and all its subsidiaries through Developing the sector's vision, rationalizing
expenditures, paying attention to the human element and improving the services
provided to clients, given that the sector plays a major role in the
development strategy for the development of the Egyptian state,” Said Cap. Mohamed
Manar minister of civil aviation.
"EGYPTAIR’s fleet
has 22 Airbus aircraft including eight A220s. Alongside the A220, the A320neo
will be an integral part of EGYPTAIR’s fleet modernization plan that will
replace its existing single aisle fleet," said Capt. Ahmed Adel, chairman
and CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company.
He added that Passengers
in both cabins will also benefit from a superior cabin ambience featuring
relaxing mood lighting in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi connectivity and the
feature of Live TV, which allows watching many news, sports and other channels
to give travelers a unique experience on board, in addition to personal screens
whether in business or tourist class.
Featuring the widest
single-aisle cabin in the sky, the A320neo Family
incorporates the latest
technologies, including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together
deliver 20 per cent reduced fuel burn as well as 50 percent less noise compared
to previous generation aircraft.
EGYPTAIR’s A320neo is
powered by CFM Leap-1A engines and configured in a two-class cabin with 142
seats. This will include 16 business class seats offering a generous 48” seat
pitch and an economy cabin with 126 seats offering 29-30” pitch.
