The meeting reviewed
aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the IMF, in light of the progress made
on implementing the economic reform program in Egypt.
President El Sisi expressed
appreciation for the fruitful partnership and constructive cooperation between
the Egyptian government and the IMF to implement the comprehensive economic reform program. He noted
the keenness to continue cooperation with the Fund, considering the positive
environment and investment opportunities provided by the partnership between
Egypt and the IMF to the investors and international financial market.
The President
confirmed the Egyptian people’s significant role in the success of the state’s
efforts to carry out the reform process, by showing understanding and awareness
of the inevitable need to carry out these reforms. This led to achieving
progress that was confirmed by the positive economic indicators of the Egyptian
economy and recognized by the official IMF data as well as improvement of
Egypt’s credit rating by specialized international institutions.
Ms. Lagarde
congratulated the President for the progress made by the Egyptian government
thus far and confirmed that the Egyptian people’s awareness and political
leadership’s successful management significantly improved various economic
indicators, reflecting the successful application of the economic reform
measures. She stressed the IMF’s keenness to continue the constructive
cooperation with Egypt to successfully complete the final phases of the
economic reform program. She also commended the President’s interest in the youth
and the successful organization of youth conferences both at the national and
international levels.
