President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended the U.S. Chamber of Commerce In Washington

During the dinner, there was an open discussion with the representatives of the U.S. business sector in attendance who showed interest in doing or expanding business in Egypt. President El Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness to continue communicating with the investors to know more about the obstacles they face and help overcome them. He expressed his appreciation for the role of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Egypt-U.S. Business Council in bolstering economic and trade relations between Egypt and the U.S. The President also noted the importance of the private sector in this regard as an engine for growth through the increase of investment and transfer of knowledge and expertise to serve the interests of both countries.
The President noted the fruitful talks that he had held earlier with President Trump in the White House, especially at the economic level and ways to enhance economic cooperation and trade between the two countries and to increase the investment of American companies in Egypt. This is in light of progress made on the economic reform program and creating a legislative and institutional infrastructure to attract more foreign investment.
The attendees lauded the progress of the economic reform program, especially measures taken to improve and encourage investment, in addition to the mega national projects underway that contributed to setting an example of successful cooperation with the IMF. They expressed keenness to work on increasing U.S. investment in Egypt in various sectors, particularly in the health, energy, technology and tourism sectors.
President El Sisi confirmed Egypt’s determination to continue reform efforts and development in light of implementing the national strategy to achieve sustainable development 2030. He also emphasized that Egypt appreciates the special and strategic relations with the U.S. and that it welcomes more U.S. business activity.
