The
meeting reviewed the progress in the implementation of a project for the establishment
and development of the digital system and information infrastructure of the new
administrative capital, as well as the plan for the transformation to digital
government and the automation of government work.
President
El Sisi stressed the need for good preparations and emphasized the importance of adhering to the timetable set
for the establishment of the digital and information infrastructure in the new
administrative capital. This aims to turn it into a gateway for Egypt's entry
into the era of smart cities that rely on the applications of digital society
and the most advanced technologies in communications and IT in the
administration and operation of facilities and services. This shall contribute
to achieving sustainable development, improving the quality of life for the
citizens, fulfilling their economic, social, environmental, cultural and
security needs, in addition to reducing the costs of operation and maintenance
and rationalizing consumption.
President El
Sisi confirmed the need to exert intensive efforts with regard to the
automation of government activities, particularly through the development of
the management systems of government institutions at the levels of human and
financial resources as well as logistics. The President asserted that the state
places huge interest on the communications and IT sector, given its key role in
achieving comprehensive sustainable development and its contribution to the
economic and societal development process.
The President
also underlined the need to focus on providing advanced training for human
cadres and leaderships to qualify them to work in a digital environment and to
use the latest modern technologies. This will contribute to the implementation
of the state's plans for the establishment of advanced government systems that
will deliver better services to the citizens in a modern way.
