Cooperation organized a visit to the high-level delegation of the Executive
Directors of the World Bank, today, Sunday, January 19, 2020, to the solar
project "Benban" in Aswan, which is the largest project of solar
cells in the world And the project got the best distinguished projects of the

Members of the World Bank delegation
of executives praised the solar power plant project, noting that Egypt's
reforms in the energy field opened a stronger door for private sector
investment, as this project attracted more than two billion dollars in
investments and this shows the role of reforms in the energy field, where The
International Finance Corporation, the investment arm of the World Bank,
participated in this project with investments worth 653 million dollars, within
the total value of the project, which amounts to two billion dollars, and with
the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and a
large number of major international companies, explaining that "Benban"
project "Perfect" in
accordance with international standards of the bank, in terms of choice of
location and efficiency and is a model for sustainable development and
environmentally friendly, and contributes to the achievement of many of the
goals of sustainable development.
Commenting on this project, Dr. Rania
Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, confirmed that this project
reflects the comprehensive strategic partnership that Egypt has reached with
the World Bank, in light of what Egypt is undertaking of an economic reform
program, part of which includes working to enhance the role of the sector
Private sector in achieving sustainable economic growth, and in the framework
of the partnership between the public and private sectors, in order to achieve
the sustainable development goals, as it supports the seventh goal of the
sustainable development goals by providing clean energy at reasonable prices,
in light of the government's plan to generate 20% of electricity from clean
energy by 2022, also supports the thirteenth goal m The Sustainable Development
Goals, which is climate action, reflects Egypt's international commitment to
its international climate change agreements.
The delegation of the World Bank’s
CEOs includes Dr. Mirza Hassan, Dean of the Board of Executive Directors and
Executive Director of the World Bank, Ambassador Raji Al-Atribi, Alternate
Executive Director for Egypt and the Arab Countries at the World Bank,
Jean-Claude Chauchuang “Djibouti”, and Juergen Zatler “Germany”, Adrien
Fernandez “Uruguay”, Ann Kabagampi “Uganda”, Roman Marshavin “Russia”, Richard
Montgomery “United Kingdom”, Abarna Subramani “India” and Katarzina Korovska
“Poland” in addition to Marina Weiss, Director of the World Bank office in
Egypt, Walid Labadi, Director of the IFC Office in Eng Grate, the high-level
delegation from the World Bank’s CEOs to Egypt represents part of the bank’s
Board of Executive Directors which is chaired by the President of the World
Bank Group and consists of 25 executives representing 189 countries from the
World Bank member countries, and this is the first visit to Egypt for this
delegation in a year 2014.
The solar energy project in Benban
Baswan is the largest solar cell project (PV) in the world, as a number of
solar energy stations gather in one place, with a total capacity of 1465
megawatts, in cooperation with 32 investors, and the project contributed to the
development of the entire region by Employment of young people from the
villages of Banban, the villages and the neighboring centers, but there are
workers from the governorates of Lower Egypt and all parts of the country,
where the number of employment reached about 10,000 workers, technicians and
engineers during the project implementation period, which is what qualified
those workers trained to be distinguished in the field of installing power stations
Solar.
During their visit to Benban in
Aswan, the delegation of executives of the World Bank visited the Benban Health
Care Unit, which is among 600 health units supported through a project to
develop a health care system in which the World Bank contributes $ 530 million,
and also includes the development of 30 hospitals in several Governorates, and
the project supports the initiative of 100 million health, survey, and
treatment of C virus and noncommunicable diseases, and the health unit in the
Benban provides services including maternal and child care, preventive services
and vaccinations, emergency reception, support to the program for rural women
pioneers, the VCS survey and noncommunicable diseases, and the use of land The
visiting physician program, in the field of family planning, serves
approximately 4,350 people.
