At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister
praised Orange's investments in Egypt for it being one of the world's leading
telecommunications companies. He stressed that Egypt is looking forward to
enhance cooperation with the company by increasing the investments of Orange in
Egypt in new areas of interests, which will serve the company’s expansion plan
around the world.
The prime minister added that the important talks held by
President Al-Sisi with President Emmanuel Macaron yesterday, have touched on
various proposals, which aims at increasing French investments in Egypt and
that will obviously include the investments of Orange shares into the Egyptian
market.
Mr. Nader Saad, the official spokesman for the Prime
Minister's Office, said that the president of Orange Company stressed that the
company is keen to boost its current investments in Egypt and in the coming
period Orange is working on increasing investments in other markets. In this
regard, Mr. Saad pointed out to the signed cooperation protocol between the
company and the Ministry of Electricity Renewable energy for the implementation
of a solar energy project in Benban, Aswan, as well as another signed agreement
with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, which helps in providing more job
opportunities in the neediest villages.
Additionally, the spokesman of the Cabinet said that the
President of Orange Company expressed the company's potential to provide all
possible support to Egypt during the organization process of the African
Nations Cup 2019, given that Orange is the second largest sponsor of official
African football championships. The President of Orange also expressed the
Company's desire to launch cooperation with Egypt in the health sector by
promoting the use of digital technology. This will facilitate access to health
services by citizens.
The president of Orange was deliberate to discuss various
issues like: information security and ways to secure the Internet against
piracy. He pointed out that the company has specialized units that is composed
of trained professionals in this field. Lastly, he had the time to acknowledge
the skills possessed by the Egyptian technicians whom works at the company in
Egypt.
For his part, the Prime Minister welcomed all new
possibilities of cooperation mentioned by the President of Orange, and stressed
that he will lead the other ministers related to this matter in keeping strong
communication with the company in order to activate these proposals and explore
new areas of collaboration with Orange.
